My Story

I have always enjoyed keeping fit, hillwalking, trail running, cycling & walking my dogs. After I had children, like so many others, I found I needed to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles & I discovered Pilates. I found regular practice invaluable in strengthening my core & preventing injury.   The mind body connection also generates an amazing feeling of wellbeing. As a shift worker for years I found that Pilates could help release tension & stress & allow me to sleep better.

As someone who spent a lot of time working at a computer, driving & the added discomfort of wearing personal protective equipment, I knew that Pilates is an ideal form of exercise to improve joint mobility & prevent or ease those all too common aches & pains. In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer & I turned to Pilates to help with my recovery from treatment. It was perfect as a low impact but highly effective way to keep my body moving.

Now I am cancer free, but being post menopausal & I suffer with joint pain as result, especially osteoarthritis in my hip, I continue to use Pilates, Yoga & cold water swimming to keep my joints mobile & manage the pain. It allows me to keep walking & even running on the trails!

I am a qualified matwork Pilates teacher & also now a Realistic Hatha Yoga instructor. I also have completed training in Menopause awareness, lower limb closed chain biomechanics and stretch & relax sessions.

I feel that the best way to live a healthy life as we age is to keep our bodies moving, focussing on strength & mobility whilst not forgetting to find time to breathe & relax.
